333 Do You Like What You Make?

Taboo and Permissions Discovery Call $333

Our purpose together in this session is to figure out what you want to make that feels taboo and locate the permission you need to follow through on your most challenging and fulfilling creative impulses. This offering is for you if you feel held back by your own self critique or are looking for a stronger alignment with your work and art practice. In this two hour call we excavate your interests and repulsions, identify shame or embarrassment that might be preventing stronger expression and remember the dreams that have been put away to see if there’s space for them in your present and future life. This call can also be valuable for you if you are feeling lost in your creativity, if you doubt that you are a creative person, or if you remember enjoying your own power and potential and don’t know what happened to it. For this work, in addition to accumulated experience, my teachers have been psychologists and artists Cynthia Wall, Eric Burne, Claude Steiner, Nairy Fstukh, and Vanessa German. This offering is available to anyone regardless of profession who wants a supportive container to explore their creative permissions.

222 Do You Like What You Say?

More Specific Statements Private Workshop $222

In this offering I spend 2-3 hours working with you to get specific about your art work and practice in writing. This is for you if you struggle to get words on the page when you are writing about yourself and your work, or if you tend to leave your statements vague or ambiguous for fear of boxing yourself in or leaving something out. In the first hour we look at documentation of your work together. You describe your process, what the work means to you, the ideas you’re working with and the materials you’re using. We use the second hour to generate unedited writing in response to the conversation we just had. The purpose of this time is to get as much information onto the page as possible without structuring or self monitoring for flow or eloquence. The third hour is for editing the material together into a refined statement. If you already have a statement you want to edit, we spend the second hour adjusting it together, deepening the language, and expanding on ideas with more specific language. This can fill into the 3rd hour if necessary or in some cases we use the third hour to start something new that you carry out on your own. The hours can be done in one session or broken up over two days with the editing block being separated from the discussion and generative writing session. This workshop can be modified for people in trades or other professions less frequently classified “in the arts”

111 Do You Know What You Mean?

Compassionate Critical Feedback Session $111

This feedback session is for artists and writers who want supportive feedback on works in progress. This offering might be for you if you crave critical feedback without unfiltered criticism. This session is great for people who are uncomfortable in the traditional western art critique model and want compassionate critical feedback that is purposeful and given clear direction. The critique model I have developed as a professional artist and arts educator is designed to help the creator develop a stronger understanding of what they made in its current state and guide them in developing the work to fulfill their own intentions. This model creates healthy space from the western art canon and excludes unsolicited advice; instead challenging the creator to articulate their intentions to solicit feedback that will illuminate a path towards a clear artistic goal.

1 hour session for visual artists

1.5 hours for time based media

For feedback on written work I ask for at least one hour with your text before a one hour call to discuss the work together.
